Watoto Trust has brought two brick making machines for the Kitilikini community as part of our support for the Orkonyil Project. The bricks are made out of mud and dried in the sun. They provide an alternative building material which is both sustainable, long lasting, cheap to make, transportable and which can be sold by the village for a profit. Bricks can be made in both rectangular and curved shapes – the curved shape is ideal for water tank building. The machines will be operated by the women of the village. For every brick sold a small donation will be made towards the school.
